I have been painting, writing and teaching for 45 years. My education background includes a BFA and MFA from San Francisco Art institute. I have four children and six grandchildren. A simple home of my design is in Pt Reyes Station and my studio is in Marshall, CA
Painting and drawing help me to understand the things I read and experience in the outer world. Visible manifestations of my reality can be analyzed like Jungian dream work. It is my way of learning, knowing and growth through active imagination. It is my path of Individuation.
My practice of meditation plus reflection on writings by Jung, and Underhill as well as by physicists like Einstein, and Teilhard de Chardin and many others have inspired the cosmic images for many years. The Hubble photos are amazing. My paintings on these themes helped me to create original manifestations of my experience of Oneness and harmony in the universe. They also help me to understand the concepts of Evolution, Individuation, Wholeness and the Self.
Periodically, when the troubles of the outer world press in on me, mandalas enter my mind spontaneously and by drawing or painting them, I am helped to stay centered or balanced in the inner world. Most of those images are small and always created with reverence.
In the past, I have expressed many stages of life with abstracted figures, flowers or landscapes. The “Tao te Ching” by Lao Tsu is one of my favorite books. I always feel awe and wonder at nature’s unfolding and feel fortunate to live at the edge of the western United States, where sea joins land and sky.
